This is solidly built and the ever important x y axis lock knob is also solid. One star off for the knob on the last extension. I know, a trip to the hardware store and a larger knob is a quick and easy fix. I just wish _they_ had made the trip to the hardware store.
This is not the cheapest boom available, but it's holding a rather nice condenser mic, thus it's a worthwhile expense. Penny wise, pound foolish, etc.

This is a very easily adjustable, well-balanced and very solid boom. My only hesitation is to fully endorse the thumb screws for the extensions. Unlike the large and very ergonomic butterfly adjustment for the fulcrum of the boom, the thumb screws do not afford a super positive grip. I find my heavy EV mic, on the end of a dangling gooseneck attached to the boom, swings a bit, even when I've tightened the extension as much as I can. Still, this is a minor gripe-or is that grip? :-) Best I've seen out there for a long time.

Bought this for my Ultimate mic stand that I bought on Ebay, because Amazon didn't have it. Love the sturdiness of this thing, and as a weekend professional, it looks like it's gonna hold up well for years. I would recommend this for the Ultimate Mic stand only since thats the one I have.
