Description

Finally a sensible, stylish case that outperforms wood and plastic. When we set out to develop a new case, we knew it had a lot to live up to. That’s why we spent 3 years thinking through every detail of the RB Continental — a revolutionary fusion of strength and style. The RB Continental’s water-resistant ballistic Quadraweave exterior surrounds a lightweight Flexoskeleton protection system of 1-Inch thick high-density foam and EVA impact panels that offers enough protection to survive a 40-foot drop without so much as a nick or scratch. (We know because we tried it. And when the guitar inside emerged unscathed, we did it again just for fun.) Inside, a velvet tuck interior lining, solid-cell neck brace suspension system, and thick Softmesh-lined side panels cradle your instrument in a cocoon of scuff-proof luxury. And its zippered “quick stash-Inch headstock pocket, Zero G palm-contoured handle with weight distributing foam core, knurled abrasion grid on top and bottom to resist scuffing, and hideaway backpack straps are designed for getting around in the real world. The RB Continental is everything you’d expect from Reunion Blues, at a price that’s almost too good to be true.

5A Long Time Coming  Jul 01, 2010 By The California Consumer
I had been looking literally for years for a sturdy lightweight case for a very unusually shaped semi-acoustic British Baldwin guitar with no luck. Almost all the hard cases on the market today fit a very small number of specific popular guitars, i.e. LP's, Strat/Tele-style, SG's, 335's. If your guitar didn't come with a nice case, you're pretty much out of luck. There are no universal "large" guitar cases out there; believe me I've looked. The original case for this guitar was extremely heavy, big and very bulky. I came across the Reunion Blues video on the net. The video has a guitar in the Continental bag thrown from the roof of a theater onto the parking lot below. The guitar survives with no damage. That's pretty impressive. What really impressed me was the fact that Reunion Blues made a case wide enough to actually fit my wide-bodied Baldwin. It's constructed like a gig bag but is far superior to any gig bag on the market today. It offers a great deal more protection than all but the very most expensive fiber glass cases. I recently purchased a used Rick Turner Renaissance RS-6 guitar. It came with a very flimsy and lightly padded universal-type gig bag. Strangely enough, there are no available hard cases that fit the Turner Renaissance guitar, it too has a very unusual shape. Amazingly, the Reunion Blues Continental case works for this guitar as well. End result, I bought a second Continental Semi-hollow case.

There is an incredible amount of padding inside, there's a large velcro strap that secures the neck to a support block, and a generous amount of shielding and padding on the sides to guard against impact. The guitar is held very tightly by all the padding so it cannot move around inside, that's its secret. If the case is dropped or falls over, the padding absorbs all the shock and because the guitar is immobilized. I've had guitar cases where in the event of a fall or getting knocked over, you can hear the guitar banging around inside the case. I have other hard cases with interiors designed to fit specific guitars but again, the padding isn't as good and the impact can travel from the case's exterior through to the guitar body.

The Continental case is a well thought out design/concept, everything heavy duty (stitching, zippers, handles , straps), it's very light and extremely well balanced at the handle. There are straps so you can carry it like a back pack, many large pockets and compartments, extra protection on the exterior in on high abrasion points, and the most comfortable handle you'll ever find on a guitar case. Appears expensive but is wise investment if you value your instrument. This is light years beyond any "soft case" and probably better than most cases that come with your guitar. If you ever need a replacement case, it's worth the money.
