| | Description | Finally a sensible, stylish case that outperforms wood and plastic. When we set out to develop a new case, we knew it had a lot to live up to. That’s why we spent 3 years thinking through every detail of the RB Continental — a revolutionary fusion of strength and style. The RB Continental’s water-resistant ballistic Quadraweave exterior surrounds a lightweight Flexoskeleton protection system of 1-Inch thick high-density foam and EVA impact panels that offers enough protection to survive a 40-foot drop without so much as a nick or scratch. (We know because we tried it. And when the guitar inside emerged unscathed, we did it again just for fun.) Inside, a velvet tuck interior lining, solid-cell neck brace suspension system, and thick Softmesh-lined side panels cradle your instrument in a cocoon of scuff-proof luxury. And its zippered “quick stash-Inch headstock pocket, Zero G palm-contoured handle with weight distributing foam core, knurled abrasion grid on top and bottom to resist scuffing, and hideaway backpack straps are designed for getting around in the real world. The RB Continental is everything you’d expect from Reunion Blues, at a price that’s almost too good to be true. | |

Best gig bag .... EVER! Feb 22, 2011
By Doug ("funkyjudge") This Reunion Blues Continental Bass Guitar Gig Bag provides fantastic protection, appears to be extremely durable and looks good, too! In addition, it has lots of convenient storage pockets -- including one that will hold a laptop on the outside of the bag -- and the neck-cradling feature is wonderful! I showed this gig bag to two of my friends/fellow bassists, and my bass instructor, who is a top touring musician, and they were all highly impressesd with its quality and durability.
To top it all off, the price that I paid to buy this gig bag from Total Music Source (Amazon partner) was very reasonable, compared with the prices that I have seen for much lesser gig bags.
Kudos and a big "thank you!" to Reunion Blues, and to Total Music Source!!!

Nice bag overall Dec 12, 2011

I just purchased a used version of this item, in near-new condition. I bought it from someone who was not connected in any way with Amazon.
Overall this gig bag is very rugged with some nice features, including a nice pouch storage area. Read the product description from the manufacturer for full details on features.
The bag definitely seems tough enough to live up to it's reputation, and to the videos on Youtube. If you haven't seen them, you should! They toss this bag, with guitar inside, off a 4 story building. The guitar was fine on inspection afterward!
The only complaint I have is that the bag does not sit up nicely when set down on a hard surface. It does nicely when leaned upright against a door or car, but standing alone in its "set down while you open the car door" position it leans quite a bit and falls over easily. I am able to get it to sit more nicely if I fiddle with it, but for this price I would expect it to be better balanced.
This would not keep me from buying it, however. This bag is a much better option than a standard case. Better protection, smaller and lighter, very sturdy, plenty of storage as compared to most cases that give you enough room to store a tuner and a strap. Also better than some other gig bags that won't protect this nicelyand better than other polyfoam cases that protect nicely but are larger or offer much less storage.
Comes with a luggage tag although I am not sure I would pack it on a plane as a checked bag. But it would probably be fine if I did.
Comes with backpack straps, but they are lodated by the body of the bass, so if you use the straps, the neck sticks up in the air. Plus, I already have a backpack full of other gear that goes to every gig. But I am sure the backpack straps could be utilized in another way, perhaps by using them to help secure the bass to my amp/cabinets that roll on a dolley. I used to do that with bungee cords with my other case. This new case should secure more easily than that one did since the RB case has some eyelets on it, and its shape (turned upside down) would lend itself nicely to bungee travel.
So in short, I think this is definitely worth the $125 total price I paid. Not sure I would want to pay the new $160-190 that it goes for on Amazon. if you are on a budget, and are looking for a nice lightweight case and don't need a lot of storage, and don't need something quite so rugged as the RB, but still tough enough for travel to and from gigs and rehearsals in your car (not a tour van) then I recommend the Road Runner line of polyfoam cases available at Guitar Center or online at Amazon via Musician's Friend for $60. I had 2 for several years. I had to replace the rubber feet, but overall liked them a lot.
Hope this review helps some of you out there!
the best of both worlds!! Apr 14, 2012
By jhfender5 As the heading suggests, this bag is awesome! The protection of a hardcase, yet the lightness and size economy of a gigbag! I play in a gospel choir three times per week with rehearsals once per week on Sunday, along with other gigs throughout the year. Therefore my bass(a custom-built Jazz bass by a luthier in Hollywood Ca.)needs adequate protection during constant transport. I drive a VW golf, so you know im limited on space. A hard case takes up too much room and a gig bag makes me nervous because my bass is crammed behind the seats with the ever-looming possibility of being damaged by seats being suddenly pushed back by those riding with me and not realizing that its back there! PROBLEM SOLVED WITH THIS RB CONTINENTAL!! Its superior protection keeps my mind off of concern about my bass, and the size is small enough to still keep it behind the seats!! Storage of items in the pockets?: perfect. Bottom line: if you invest in a fine instrument, i recommend investing in this product in order to keep it fine.
