3Adequate for light to medium use. Great for podcasting. Good value.  Mar 09, 2010 By M. Erb
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1T35P74SMCVPS This is a perfectly adequate Boom Mic Stand suitable for use on a desk or for drum/amp mic'ing. I would not characterize it as "heavy duty" but for light to moderate use, it should be sufficient. The base weight is roughly 6 pounds providing pretty good stability. The base also has felt pads on the four corners to protect the surface of whatever you place it on. The boom has about 9" of travel and the boom height starts at 7" and can be adjusted up another 6" giving a total height of about 13". The ProLine MS112BK is a good value but probably not the best choice for rough usage.

5Does the job  Jun 02, 2009 By Jeffrey D. King Jr.
Yes, it is inexpensive, but it does everything I need it to do. The knob controlling the extension of the boom is a plastic circle, making it difficult to torque to hold my condenser mic upright. This would not be an acceptable solution if I was constantly adjusting this mic, but I crank it tight one time and leave it on my desk. So it is fine for my application. It is exactly what I need for an acceptable price.

1Avoid at all costs  Jul 08, 2011 By I. Gulko
I bought two for 30 bucks each, but I think they cost less than a dollar to make. I've already exchanged the first pair I had, and the new ones are just as bad or worse. Here are the defects I've experienced so far:

- The part where the microphone holder screws on has come loose and rotates freely. This is one of the first two that I exchanged.
- All of the adjustment knobs are different, and none of them are easy to use. Some get in the way of each other when you're trying to secure it!
- It's impossible to secure the rotation on the second pair I got. The first were fine. I'm guessing this is another artifact of cheap manufacturing.
- All of the adjustments are either loose or very tight to rotate. Some of them go from loose to stuck in just a few degrees of rotation.
- There are many more defects, but I'm getting angry just writing about this, recalling my futile attempts to get these set up.

Summary: Avoid at all costs! You're better off using duct tape and a broomstick.

1proline = no customer service  Jul 18, 2008 By M. Jackson
If you have tried to get warranty service on a proline product,
you know what i am talking about. Proline appears to be closely
affiliated with (or owned by) Guitar Center, which will not honor
the 5-year warranty on Proline products. Repeated emails to the
addresses on the Proline website's Contact page have met with
no response whatsoever.

Think about it -- these are cheap (and cheaply made) products
that do not hold up well under the kind of treatment they are
likely to get from a working musician. Then if you want them
to stand behind their products, they won't even talk to you.
Pretty shabby if you ask me.

5A Monster  Feb 11, 2012 By David G. Beneke
If you have a tippy desk top stand, then get this one. The base is very heavy, it is counter balanced perfectly and adjusts quickly and easily, without wimpy parts. I have a very big CAD e300-2 mounted to mine, and if you know the e300, it's a big mic. No worries about it falling. Also have a shock mount and pop screen mounted, resting easy that no disasters, even an non aggressive bump, are going to cause any mic I put on it to go "timber"!
