Awesome Amp with Great Fender Tone Apr 26, 2010

Love It,. have spent considerable time this weekend with some of the included backing tracks,. A Lot of Lick Building Fun. Sounds Fantastic for a solid state amp. I was debating on spending a bit more for a killer tube amp ,. but liked all the options and diversity of this gdec3. So far, I am very happy and not dissapointed by my choice. The software (Fender Fuse) is pretty cool but will definitely need some improvement,. like drag and drop new presets and songs as backing tracks. Otherwise very cool. Would be perfect if it had a simple recording feature., like say 4 tracks.

Super Versitle Little Amp ! Dec 22, 2011
By dock4 I've had a GDec 30 and now a GDec 3 thirty. What a great little amp. The 3 thirty is a very positive change over the 3. With the SD card for back tracks, tweeter, amp modeling, built in tuner and FUSE software it can keep you busy for hours. The sound is great and the 30watts is powerful enough for any bedroom shredding or garage/backyard jamming. The foot switch can control almost any selection, tuning, start and stop.
It has an output jack that can plug into a powered speaker cabinet or another amp. I tried this with my old 3 before I sold it. Quality was very good and LOUD. I haven't tried it but I suspect a quality powered speaker would be a very nice addition.
If I could fill a wish list, it would be able to have the amp automaticaly associate a amp model with a backtrack. Instead it is a rather extended series of separate steps. In other words, you go through steps to select your backtrack, then you go through steps to select your amp model for that backtrack. Everytime.

Wow...... Apr 22, 2011
By M. Long As a Novice, just learning player...this amp rocks. Instead of having to buy effects to reproduce sounds you know, most are included. Great amp, worth the money and more...
Awesome jamming tool Apr 11, 2012

This little device contains enough tech to consume countless hours of both tedious programming and fun. The stock tones and combinations of tones with pre-programmed backing tracks can be great fun, but recording your own tracks (using perhaps Addictive Drums on Ableton) and then bouncing them over via an SD card and connecting your computer to change the programming on the amp gives you a "band in a box" thru your amp. The forums allow you to download other tones people have created, and then there's the songbooks such as Hendrix & SRV and more so that you can learn the tunes. Great tool for the money and when you need to just be indulgent and have a 1/2 hour to jam, the amp is ready when you are. As always the negatives are the complexity of the tech and taking the hours to understand all the nooks and crannies. The payoff is worth it.

Wonderful amp, but not for everyone Mar 04, 2012
By Robert J. I was looking to buy my first guitar amp and not knowing anything asked the salesman at GC for a recommendation for something versatile. He recommended this amp. I went home and did some online research, reading magazine and music website reviews on it, all of which loved its capabilities as well as output from its 10" speaker and tweeter. A fun amp as well as a professional quality piece of gear to paraphrase one magazine.
I went back and bought it, luckily just after it's $100 price drop to $299, took it home and found the SD card slot defective. Back to the store for a new one, which is just fine.
Being a newb I can't personally comment on its sound, other than to say it sounds good to me.
Its solidly built but not too heavy to carry around by its handle, at least for short distances.
My major critique is with the user interface. Compared to other modeling amps that have physical dials to change treble, middle, bass, reverb, etc. you have to wade through an overly complicated mix of dials and buttons while squinting at a smallish, low contrast, screen.
However, if you don't mind hooking the amp up to your computer and using the Fender Fuse software, then you have an amazingly powerful tool, much faster than messing around with expensive physical pedals and a mess of cables.
Another wonderful feature is the ability to use backing tracks. I can't rave about them enough. They made a huge difference in my playing an electric compared to my old Japanese made Epiphone acoustic. Within the first couple of days I was sounding better than I'd ever had.
Plus, you have the optional foot pedal to quickly change sounds on stage, and books/SD cards to learn songs and sound like guitar gods such as Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Hendrix, AC/DC and others. (When will you come out with a Jimmy Page, Les Paul or Jeff Beck SD card/book guys?)
What this amp really needs is an iPhone/iPad/Android version of the Fuse app. (I wonder if Fuse would run on a Windows tablet? ) Even better, if they had a wireless Bluetooth transceiver built in using ver 4 of the spec. you could go really portable.
If I were to buy an amp today (instead of 3 months ago when I bought mine) I would take a very close look at the Fender Mustang line. They've added those missing physical dials for treble, etc as well as being able to use the Fuse software. One model, while lacking the tweeter, has a 12" speaker that makes a huge difference in the low end.
You get a lot of bang for your buck with this amp and with some practice with the interface or Fuse software you can store your own personal favorite settings/sounds and quickly change sound with the turn of a single dial or with the footpedal (which I bought on Amazon recently when on sale). So don't let it intimidate you like it did with me at first. Stick with it and you'll be playing better, sounding better, in no time.
