| | Description | In early 1952, the Fender® Bassman® amplified a great new invention - the Fender Precision Bass® guitar. At 50 watts, it competed easily with the common instrumentation of the day: horns, piano, small drum kit, and maybe even an electric guitar through a new 10-watt amp. Through the ’60s and ’70s, the original all-tube tweed 4x10” Bassman® was popular with rock, country and blues guitarists as a reliably great-sounding and easy-to-use guitar amp. In the ’90s, Fender released an affordable ’59 Bassman reissue amplifier to great acclaim. Many guitarists, tired of experimenting with preamps, equalizers and effects racks, rediscovered the simple pleasure of plugging into a Fender tube amp. The reissue Bassman’s wide stage coverage, touch-sensitive dynamics and full-frequency swirl make it perfect for building great tone with almost any guitar or effect, and it remains a staple of the Fender guitar amp line to this day. | |

Amazing, vintage Fender tone Aug 11, 2010
By J. Ramirez This amp sounds incredible. Sparkling cleans and it can get downright dirty. The Tweed is a great touch. 4x10 inch speakers=plenty of volume. I was also surprised by how light the amp was, it's not as heavy as other tube amps that I own so that is a major plus. This pedal also sounds great with any pedals you put in in front of it. I highly recommend this amp.

Sounds Better With a Guitar Than a Bass! Aug 15, 2011
By ksrp Ironically, this amp (like all of the Fender Bassmans) sounds much better with a guitar than a bass. Try plugging a Tele or Strat into it...pure heaven...especially with a Tube Screamer in front of it. OTOH, as strictly a BASS amp it is certainly lacking. Thus, most owners of this amp use it for guitar rather than for bass.
So there is NO misunderstanding my "1" rating is for it as a BASS amp. As a GUITAR amp I'd rate it as a "5" or "4.5."
