The Egnater 112 combo serves up seemingly endless tonal variations via its onboard Tweaker selector switches. Powered by a pair of 6V6 power tubes, the Egnater Tweaker is a perfect tube amp for gigging. The Egnater combo's gain, EQ, and master sections each have a Tweaker switch providing a wide range of tones from the ultra smooth and satisfying to fully over-saturated lead tones.Hidden inside the Egnater Tweaker tube amp is a vast array of tones not usually found in such a compact combo amp. Each of the 5 front-mounted toggle switches changes the amp's character. The Tight and Bright switches shape the low and high end from soft and smooth to punchy and aggressive. The Gain switch goes from sparkly clean to an all-out high-gain assault. The Egnater guitar amp's EQ switch selects tones from pristine American to classic Brit and even the illusive VX AC sound. Use the Classic/Modern voicing switch to choose either soft and smooth or hard and edgy power-tube tone. love at first sight Mar 14, 2011
By J. Robertson I went to the store fully expecting to walk away with a Fender Blues Junior. After playing both the Fender and this amp multiple times, and leaving the store for an hour to clear my head, I ended up going home with this.
I don't think I have seen such a variety of tone options on an amp this size and/or price that didn't involve some kind of digital modeling. The switches are not just for show, they actually do change the sound. The "Tight" and "Bright" switches do exactly what it says on the label. I am most impressed, however, with the "Brit/AC/USA" 3-way switch. This is like 3 amps in one, and they all sound good.
This thing is built solid. In fact if I had anything to complain about, it is that this is more physical size and weight than I expect in a 15 watt amp. For a "practice" amp, I think I'd get pretty tired of lugging this big baby back and forth from band practice on a daily basis. If you're mental picture of a 15 watt practice amp is a little solid state amp with an 8-inch speaker, you are in for a shock. But I'm guessing they designed it like this for a reason, and it probably wouldn't sound the same with a smaller speaker and more lightweight construction.
It isn't really a 2-channel amp, but it does have a "Clean/Hot" switch. "Clean" ranges from actually clean to pretty damn crunchy, and "Hot" picks up from there and goes to Eleven. If you need more gain than the amp is capable of, the distortion or overdrive pedal of your choosing will probably sound good through it. Fuzz pedals, too.
Like all tube amps, it sounds best with the Master Volume as high as you can stand. (I always think that Master Volume should be labeled "Awesome") At 15 watts it is a bit louder than the 5 watt wonders like the Valve Junior and the Class Five (neither of which even HAVE a Master Volume to turn down), although not "3 times" as loud since Watts Do Not Work That Way. If you live with other people in the same house they will hear it and come tell you to turn it down, in which case you will grumble at them but still be glad you have that Master Volume knob.

This Amp is GREAT Nov 22, 2011

"Buyer of Things on The Internets"
A friend and I needed an amp for a recording project. I was flying out to him to record, and brought my electric guitar (a ~1972 SG) and a bunch of pedals, but my friend did not have an amp, so we devised a plan to "borrow" an amp from a national chain music store that has a liberal return policy.
This amp was fantastic. Because I was going pedal-heavy, I was most concerned about a solid clean tone. My preference had really been for a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, because I think it has an outstanding clean tone, but I was worried about volume. You pretty much can't turn the volume above 1.5, which is crazy. After a long and drawn out process, we settled on the Tweaker. It was perfect. I could not have been happier with it. I did not use the effects loop, but put pedals including a EHX small stone, EHX electric mistress, EHX big muff w/ tone wicker, EHX holy grail, MXR carbon copy delay, and we got some unholy sounds from this little amp. We also pushed up "hot" and gain settings all the way to amplify a drum machine track, which sounded quite gnarly and excellent. I could not recommend more highly this amp to anyone who wants an all-tube amp with great flexibility and clean tone, and that plays well with pedals. It creates a lot of sound for 15 watts, more than you would ever need for recording or at-home jamming. You could probably gig with it too, but I can't speak to that.

No regrets! May 24, 2011
By bnjiman Got this item shipped out to Australia and took a week with USPS. Was a bit nervous for first couple of nights, burning smell-now cleared-think it was paint on the tubes. I have been using this with a Hardwire reverb in the serial loop and it sounds very good, much better than my previous Marshall DSL 401 which had a parallel loop. Tones are sweet. I mostly switch between the US and Brit modes, although Vox is nice to have. The clean/hot switch is also useful. It gives you a boost of gain and volume. I have humbuckers. I would probably get a pedal if playing live though as it takes a second to turn up the gain and turn down the master volume for lead tones. You can't beat tube distortion/overdrive. The other amps I considered seriously before buying this were: Orange tiny terror/dual terror, Marshall Class 5, Vox AC15. The main reason I picked this amp was the master volume control and hearing the sweet cleans on YouTube. 15 watts is a good spot for me. I think Orange also does good valve distortion but Egnater is ahead on the sweet tones and of course the flexibility. Also having a 12" speaker is a bonus. There is no on-board reverb but I love the Hardwire anyway so I wouldn't have used it anyway. Only slight downside is looks - doesn't have the wow factor of a Marshall, but at the end of the day, sound counts, and I've grown to love it over the last couple of weeks. Build quality is decent. In short, I would definitely recommend this amp!

So much tone for this price! Apr 02, 2011
By aceofbase I tried a bunch of amps at the local guitar centre but couldn't find exactly what I wanted. I was looking for a 15-30W tube amp for ~$500 that did nice vintage cleans and OD, and sounded good a lower volumes for home recording. I was a bit worried about not trying before buying but I didn't need to be - this amp is exactly what I was looking for. I't well built, heavy, looks fantastic, and the tone is amazing! So much variety with all the different settings, I'm still exploring. I love the thick rich bassy sounds I get out of my LP w/ 57 classic pups and slightly scalloped EQ, especially with subtle MXR tremolo. But it can do the country twang, and marshall-like od with the right amount of tweaking (sic). So versatile. I agree with the other reviewer, this amp sounds even better with master volume right up (more rich, saturated tone) but it still sounds great when quiet. As a bonus it has manual voltage switching from 100V-117V-230V and accepts a standard IEC power plug for travel overseas. Am going to get a D2F cover in the near future.
The only thing this amp could do with is a second channel and reverb, but it would cost more. But not a big deal for me. I'm very happy with this purchase! I doubt there is another tube amp out there that has such a high tone/$ ratio!
