totally amazing! Feb 24, 2011
By B. Kreger
"pilnomi"
This has so many features, I'm going to highlight one I didn't see praised in other reviews. The headphone jack! This might seem trivial, but it means I don't need to lug my amp around to practice. I can just plug headphones into the pedal and practice. Also, I could plug it into the mic port on just about anything to get sounds (home stereo, computer, boom box, whatever.. any powered speakers will do). Heading to a friends? No prob! just bring the pedal + guitar, jack into his 2nd port on his AMP, or just right into his home stereo. Of course, I can still use my AMP if I want to as well..
This is in addition to all the other awesome features: 20 sec loop, tons of popular sounds pre-programmed in, along with endless custom combinations. "wah" on every effect is activated by pressing the volume pedal all the way forward, then just a little more to activate a pressure sensor, and the pedal switches from volume to wah.. slick!
I thought it was intuitive to use out of the box, and figured out most stuff before reading the manual, but had to read it to understand how to program custom effects and change the drum machine settings.
1 very small, negative -- there's no "off" switch. So if you want to turn it off (which it says you should do when not playing for a while), you have to unplug it. I'll probably use a power strip with a button on it to power down everything I use at once, so not a huge issue.

THE BEST THING I EVER BOUGHT FOR MY GIUTAR Feb 15, 2010
By David F. Schnelker The RP255 does everything Digitech claims it does. About the 20 second looper- 20 seconds might not seem like a lot of time, but considering the fact that you can dub-over trac after trac, it's more than enough time. All of the sounds it produces are "AMAZING". I'm doing things and creating sounds, and music I never dreamed of. I almost went with the RP155, but I'm glad I spent a little more and got the expression pedal, It's more than just a "volume" or "WAH" pedal. It's just a lot of fun. I have not begun to create my own music yet, but I will as soon as I install the cubase LE4 software. It's the best thing I ever bought for my guitar. I have a new found love for my giutar. I just can't say enough about it, but Digitech can. Go to Digtech.com- go to products, then RP255- and they have a nice little video "demo" on this and several other RP's. I did a lot of research befor my purchase, and this thing flat-out "BLOWS AWAY" the competition. More effects than the others- "USB" computer recording & editing- plus the looper. Try to find just the looper, not to mention all of the incredible effects this processor has on any other effects processor at this price, it just can't be done. And I did some serious looking around.

great product May 04, 2009
By Jon Festa Well I've always wanted an effects pedal. This thing is awesome, i was playing around in the music store and got lost in a moment haha. Its got some really good sounds i was impressed, I also was really impressed with the build quality of this product its medal unlike some of the cheaper plastic ones. I play acoustic so its kind of fun being able 2 play distortion and leads on an acoustic, Im sure when I play out somewhere it wll be funny to look at peoples faces when they hear an electric w/ two acoustics playing...

Disappointed Apr 06, 2012
By Brock Martin I've owned several multi-effect pedals in the past, even one Digitech. Up til now, they all had one thing in common: layers of menus to click thru to make any changes or adjustments. It was a pain. Then I saw this one...with KNOBS! I did a lot of research, and was torn between the RP255 and the RP355. I decided to go cheap and got the RP255. So far, that was an OK decision. The RP255 has plenty of features, and is a good compromise between menus and knobs. I recommend reviewing the manual for your first day or two of orientation.
To sum up the device quickly, the RP255 is probably capable of generating any sound or effect you want, but you may need to work at it. As with many multi-effect pedals, there is a selection of (60) factory tone/effect profiles, to save you the trouble of programming new ones. These are mirrored by 60 "user-defined" profiles, which are identical to the factory presets. The difference is that #1-60, can be modified by the user, or left as-is. The factory presets, # 61-120, are not modifiable. So, you can really experiment with different setups without worrying about losing what came from the factory. You can also "reset" the entire device if you want to, but if you do you will lose all of your modifications.
In addition to all the different tones and effects this unit has to offer, there are also two additional features which are very useful: a (pretty basic)drum machine and a 20 second looper. The looper is really why I bought this pedal. It's easy to use, and it overdubs. I only wish Digitech would have made it a 40 or 60 second looper. 20 seconds really isn't much. FYI, you cannot use the drummer and the looper at the same time. No biggie for me.
OK, all that's good, so why am I disappointed in this unit? Pretty simple. I'm an older guy, who has been playing for approximately 50 years. I've played every kind of music there is, and I would have appreciated a much broader selection of presets. This may be a slight exageration, but it seems like 95% of the presets are some sort of (obnoxious) distortion. Come on guys, not all of your customers are 13 years old! I expect a professional piece of equipment to offer a variety of professional choices. Now, I'm faced with working out all of my own presets. I'm back to programming menus again, ugh!.
So that's about it. It's a solid piece of equipment, with too many juvenile tone presets to choose from. In all honesty, if I had been aware of this, I would have probably not gotten this unit, inspite of its good design and quality.
Makes Bad Amps Sound Awsome!!!!! Mar 15, 2012
By Teresa Hong Not exactly happy with your Line 6 or Peavey Viper? This pedal is the answer. I know if you are looking at this review you are probably a new guitarist and also on a budget like me. For the people born into the digital age and if you like to play the hard sounding guitar like myself, you will love this pedal. The factory presets (unlike the Peavey Vipers) are good to go right out of the box. The metal distortions pedals are what every metal player is looking for. I use an Ibanez Rg 370DX and I can get very professional sound. I just got the pedal a couple of days ago and played it for a friend and he was blown away. I really feel this pedal has brought my sound to the next level. Yeah true, this pedal is very complicated to use, I have not used the X-edit yet on the computer yet but I hear that helps. If you are somewhat computer savy, you will not have any problems. I have never used an expression pedal before but the action on the pedal could probably be better, I imagine a Crybaby or a Clyde would have a better feel to it. 90% of the effects and amps sound amazing, the other 10% either sound bad or not compatible with my guitar, amp, or playing style, too hard to adjust, or just make no sense what so ever. But then again, I am a beginner with simple needs so 90% is good enough for me. The clean effects sounds good to me but still a little bit edgy which matches my playing style. If you play a lot of clean stuff, this pedal might be a little disappointing and will only come close to your tube fired analog equipment. Construction and quality is perfect so far. I recommend this pedal, I am surprised this pedal costs so little. I could not imagine another pedal that would top this one for the price. Hope this review helps you out. Rock On!!!!!!!
