The small POWERHOUSE CRATE! May 19, 2009

I purchased this because I needed a smaller practice amp that had tons of power. Like most guitar players I did not want to get out all of my effects pedals just to get my weekday fix in. With 65 watts of power being pumped through a 12'' inch speaker who could ask for more. I still havnt had this past 6 on the volume knob.
This amp was also offered as a guitar center exclusive under a different name (The rfx RETROFEX 65) The GUITAR CENTER version has gold trim and a twead grill cloth making it look like an older FENDER road amp.
CRATE has done a remarkable job putting a little bit of every amp into this one package. If you are a strat blues player this amp will blow you away.
This little power house has it all, more effects than I can possibly use,
incredible gain, great tone and a clean channel that is far ahead of other smaller amps.
The rythem channel is capable of great ac/dc, 70's and 80's rock-n-roll.
The lead channel can be used for the METALLICA type of crunch as well as blistering leads.
And as I stated at the first part of the review the clean channel is great as well. Each channel has its own customizable effects.
The effects are easy to figure out how to program- mix and match things like flange and chorus. I even figured out how to make a pitch shifter type of effect.
The only draw back was the 3 button foot switch. After about 2 weeks one of the lights on the pedal went out and then closely fallowing was that channels foot switch. Its not a big deal to me because its just a practice amp for me but I would have expected better quality from CRATE.
Other than that I am a happy guitar player.
