| | Description | The Blackheart Killer Ant BH1H is a boutique-quality tube amp for the garage-playing musician that follows the tradition of Blackheart Engineering's Little Giant 5 amp. The Killer Ant amplifier head features Class-A, single-ended circuitry. The Blackheart Killer Ant guitar amp delivers the complete, classic, touch-responsive tube tone you need but at more manageable volumes for apartment dwellers and recording sessions. Designed on a beer-stained cocktail napkin and prototyped, built, and tested in a one-car garage in Austin, TX, the little Killer Ant amp head is engineered to the same strict standards as the Little Giant 5 guitar amp, and delivers the tones and attitude you want when tone is everything and volume needs to be kept in check. The Killer Ant amp embraces 100% classic all-tube circuitry, but instead of a high power tube output section, it boasts a clever, all-tube power block pumping out a mere fraction of 1W. What you get is arena-rock tone at bedroom levels and no more angry neighbors. Like its big bro, the Killer Ant guitar amplifier features completely overbuilt component specs, from 1W resistors in the signal path to double-sided PCB with 2 oz. traces. Even its diminutive cabinet, just over palm-sized, is built to take a beating with its 15-ply (18mm) void-free wood covered in durable black tolex. Final touches include distinctive white piping accents and a salt-and-pepper cloth-covered front baffle. 4-, 8-, and 16-ohm extension speaker jacks allow you to hook the Blackheart Killer Ant guitar amp head into virtually any cab you like, including a 4x12. | |

Blackheart Killer Ant Oct 25, 2008

Awesome amp. I loaded it with JJ tubes - an excellent upgrade. I run it through a weber 12 inch speaker. Great tube distortion at a nice low volume. You will not find a better low wattage amp for this price. I've compared it to a bitmo modded epiphone valve junior head and the blackheart 5 watt head. Neither amp compares in tone. Add a electroharmonix reverb pedal and its pure tone heaven

Great tube sound without blowing out the windows Oct 19, 2008
By SandS The Blackheart BH1H Killer Ant Guitar Amp head is a beautiful tube amp with great tube sound. I matched it up with the Blackheart BH 110 Killer Cab Guitar Amp Cab, 1 x 10 and when I plug my Les Paul into it......Whoa!!! Tone and presence like never before and I don't have to deal with neighbors calling the police because it does all this at a reasonable volume for home or any intimate setting.
Only down side is that this little guy doesn't have much in the way of controls --on/off and volume is it. You will probably need a pedal with EQ or any other effects you want to add. But it does sound great as is too!!

Are you kidding me?! Jan 30, 2010
By B. Walters Best addition to my Line 6 gear through a Behringer 4x12 with vintage 30's. In stereo of course.

Love my Killer Ant ! Oct 21, 2008

I was unsure about the Killer Ant, but it was affordable for a low watt class A tube head. Well, I bought it not even having a speaker cabinet for it. I am currently connecting it to the speaker on a Fender Blues Jr which I also love. Anyway, the Killer Ant has great tone and just loud enough for home playing, just the right amount of tube breakup. I have been using it with a Tele and love it. Great tube fun without blowing out the windows or pissing off the neighbors.

By D. Ford Haven't got my hands on this little jewel yet, but if you check out Youtube there's some demos of Tom "Oldskool Texas" Watterson using the amp at Blackheart's HQ in Austin,TX.
